Optional Flex Year Program Overview

Vision

“Key Mondays” are dedicated to inspiring and motivating students to achieve their maximum academic potential.

 Purpose

The Texas Education Agency’s Optional Flexible Year Program (OFYP) allows school districts to modify their instructional calendar. These modifications allow CISD to meet the needs of its students by providing intensive instructional time to recover credit, improve TAKS scores, and re-coup days missed by excessive school absences. This program has been designed to excuse students on Flex Days who meet current expectations in terms of grades, TAKS scores, benchmark testing, and attendance. This program allows teachers to provide specific help to those students most in need. More information about OFYP can be found at ritter.tea.state.tx.us/school.finance/ofyp.html.
