Crandall Independent School District has prepared a Long-Range Technology Plan to define the process needed to continue to build and refine our technology infrastructure as we endeavor to meet the technological needs of our students, staff, and community. Development of technology skills that are integrated seamlessly into the teaching and learning process will help to achieve our district’s mission to prepare students for life pursuits. The Crandall ISD supports the mission and instructional goals of the district with a technology plan that provides for the instruction of Technology Application Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), required in the Texas Education Code, Section 28.002. CISD also complies with federal guidelines of the Children’s Internet Safety Protection Act.
In today’s information-driven society, advancements in technology continue to accelerate the rate of change in all aspects of our lives. Schools have the responsibility to equip all students with the skills necessary to succeed in the midst of this change. In cooperation with parents, business leaders, and community members, Crandall ISD is committed to providing an engaging, comprehensive technology-infused curriculum to maximize student performance and promote life-long learning and the effective use of technology at all levels.
The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Technology Applications Standards are required of all new teachers and recommended by TEA and SBEC for all Texas educators.
Standard I. All teachers use technology-related terms, concepts, data input strategies and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications. Standard II. All teachers identify task requirements, apply search strategies and use current technology to efficiently acquire, analyze, and evaluate a variety of electronic information.
Standard III. All teachers use task-appropriate tools to synthesize knowledge, create and modify solutions and evaluate results in a way that supports the work of individuals and groups in problem-solving situations. Standard IV. All teachers communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.
Standard V. All teachers know how to plan, organize, deliver and evaluate instruction for all students that incorporates the effective use of current technology for teaching and integrating the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) into the curriculum. Standard VI - Standard XI. Teachers who are not technology application specialists are not responsible for these standards.
